It's easy to get caught up in the concept of the Catholic Church as an abstract organisation, led by groups of men far away. However, the Church is also something that's right down the street, or across town too. When we brainstormed 'church' in week 1, one of the words we came up with was BUILDING.
Your task is to create a presentation using PowerPoint, movie maker, Prezi, whatever you like, to teach people about the history of the Church with reference to it's buildings. You need to focus on a Catholic perspective for this.
You need to outline - different types of church buildings (chapels, churches, cathedrals, etc). Explain the differences
- choose at least three different styles of church building from throughout history and find examples of each, explaining the style of architecture and art used (if any). Also describe the period of history in which they were built - did this have an impact on the style of building?
- which is your favourite style and why?
Email me your final result before 3pm Tuesday, and I will see you all on Wednesday to see what you have created.
